Yin Yoga Weekend
January 19-20, 2008
Cost: $195
By definition, Yin is calm, still, quiet, and inward. While it is important to our physical and mental well-being to be strong, it is not muscular strength that gives us the feeling of ease and lightness; it is the flexibility of the joints; of the connective tissue. Yin Yoga is the relaxed practice of floor postures held for 3 to 5 minutes at a time. It is the ideal complement to more muscular of Yang forms of yoga. A Yin practice emphasizes the connective tissues of the hips, thighs, pelvis, and lower spine. By drawing the students awareness away from the muscles and deeper into the bones, a deeper level of relaxed focus is achieved.
Yin Yoga Weekend Schedule
Saturday 8-10am Yin Yoga
Saturday 12-2pm Joints
Sunday 8-10am Yin & Yang Yoga
Sunday 12-2pm Yoga & Meditation
This four class workshop is suitable for beginners as well as advanced students of yoga and is designed specifically for individuals interested in learning how to safely and effectively work connective tissue. Key concepts include analysis of Yin and Yang, three tissues of joints, plasticity & elasticity, compressive & tensile stress. Students may sign up for individual classes at $55 each. Priority will be given to students who enroll in the entire weekend.
